Funeral services for Melvin Alexander, age 67, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville with Rev. Leon Ross, Rev. Richard Smith and Rev. David Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Maydelle.
Mr. Alexander went to be with the Lord January 29, 2010 in Jacksonville.
He was born September 27, 1942 in Jacksonville, TX.
Mr. Alexander was a member of Craft Baptist Church and was a mechanic.
He is preceded in death by his father Burchie Alexander.
Survivors include wife Carolyn Alexander of Jacksonville; son Scott Alexander and wife Cindy of Jacksonville; daughters Leigh Anne Largent and husband Patrick of Lufkin; mother Beulah Alexander of Jacksonville; sister Nelda McCaig and husband Mack of Jacksonville; and six grandchildren Justin, Dustin, Jacob, Braden, Sean and Abbi.
Pallbearers will be Doug Conaway, Weldon Lightsey, Paul Galyean, Larry White, Shelley Cleaver, Chad Galyean, Aaron Salazar and Larry Shaver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Grubbs, Brandon McCaig, Nolan Scruggs, Jerry Scruggs, Rock Spraggins, Sammy Grimes, Danny Grimes, Dr. James Low and Dr. Sam Smith.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
